Welcome to Joensuu Art Museum!

Joensuu Art Museum is located in the centre of Joensuu, near the market square. Permanent exhibitions include Finnish art from 1850s to modern days, Eastern Orthodox icons, Chinese art, Greek and Roman antiquities and European church art. Temporary exhibitions focus on topical themes of Finnish and international art. (Please note: the Antiquities exhibition is temporarily closed and will reopen during 2021.)

Exhibition change from 19 April to 5 May 2021: The permanent exhibitions are open during the change in the downstairs exhibition space. On Wednesday 21 April we close at 16. The museum is closed on the weekends 24-25 April and 1-2 May.

Please follow these guidelines while visiting the museum during the coronavirus pandemic:

  • wear a face mask, use hand sanitiser/wash your hands, keep a safe distance to others (2 metres), stay home if you are not well
